March 3rd, 2021, the Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center sent an Op-Ed (Opinion letter) to the Mount Shasta Herald & Siskiyou Daily in regards to concerns about the logging taking place on the North Shore at Lake Siskiyou and the possible inclusion of this area in the the Mount Shasta Recreation and Parks District Master Plan.

In October of 2020 The Ecology Center Board of Directors heard a presentation by Tom Hesseldenz of Ecological Landscape Architecture regarding his ideas about potential changes to this same Master Plan. After the presentation, the Ecology Center submitted ideas and their support to Siskiyou County, Mount Shasta Parks and Recreation District, and the Mount Shasta Trail Association.
