Funded by the passage of Proposition 50 in 2002, a variety of stakeholders in the Upper Sacramento, McCloud and Lower Pit watersheds collaboratively developed an Integrated Regional Water Management Plan (IRWMP). They completed the plan in late 2013, and are moving to apply for implementation grants through the state Department of Water Resources.

At present, Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center staff participate in meetings of the Regional Water Management Group along with the River Exchange and other environmental groups, city governments, special districts, Native tribes and other stakeholders to review and prioritize grant funding project applications under this program. Meetings are also an opportunity for these diverse stakeholders to meet and discuss water management issues of mutual concern.

Here’s a map of California’s hydrologic regions.
