National Forest Management Plan Revision: How You Can Get Involved

By Ryan Henson

Ryan Henson is the Senior Policy Director of the California Wilderness Coalition. He is responsible for directing the first-ever effort to map all of the state’s wilderness-eligible lands, and in 2001 he helped launch a legislative campaign to gain permanent protection for these areas. Ryan’s work was recognized in Congress in speeches on the House floor and in the documentary film “Forever Wild.” This presentation will cover how the Shasta-Trinity National Forest and other northwest California National Forests (5.6 million acres in all) are launching the process of revising their long-term management plans. These plans dictate nearly every element of National Forest management for 15-20 years. There will be many opportunities for public comment and engagement in the plan revision process. In this video you can find out how we can use the plan revision process to urge the US Forest Service to manage our National Forests for fire resilience, plant and wildlife habitat, watershed health, sustainable recreation, and other important values!
