5:30 – Orange Monkey
6:30 – VIP reception upstairs, DJ downstairs
7:30 – Heartwave Express
9:00 – Tribal Belly Dancing
9:30 – Strings Broken Band

This is only the first of hopefully many fun events at the revitalized Weed Palace Theater! Also sponsored by Shasta Live Sound and Let It Grow Productions.

Visit our booth at Redding’s Whole Earth and Watershed Festival  on Saturday, April 23 from 11 am to 5 pm at Redding City Hall and Sculpture Park. This FREE community event features over 120 exhibitors and activities for all ages. There will be live music on two stages, innovative products and organizations promoting healthy living, healthy communities and a healthy planet!

Everyone is invited to celebrate Earth Day in Mount Shasta at this FREE event taking place Sunday, April 24 from 11:30 am to 4 pm around the Lower Lodge at Mount Shasta City Park. This year’s focus is on education and community empowerment.

At 2 PM there will be a session on VISIONING THE CITY OF MOUNT SHASTA – what future do people want to see in our town? How can we come up with practical, workable solutions together as a community?

At 3 PM we’ll have a community forum on the CEQA and the EIR Process, and How Citizens Can Participate. This informational session will be followed by discussion and is a great opportunity to learn how you can become involved with the EIR process, particularly relating to the Crystal Geyser project.

We will also have information on the upcoming election and encourage you to register to vote on Earth Day – don’t let others decide for you!

Earth Day in the park also features a native plant walk guided by Robert Menzies of Menzies’ Native Nursery (12:30 PM, meet at headwaters), and fun stuff for kids including pony petting and seedling planting with the Mt. Shasta Community Garden, and more. Healthy Gardens will have plant starts for all your garden needs. We are featuring music by DJ Drty Muzk.

Inside the lodge will be information tables from local environmental groups including WATER, Water Flows Free, and the Mount Shasta Ecology Center. The Ecology Center will present information on the Headwaters Initiative to revise the Siskiyou County water ordinance and protect groundwater, the Honoring Our Mountain Environment (H.O.M.E.) project that recruits volunteers to work with the US Forest Service on stewardship on Mount Shasta, and the continuing campaign to protect Medicine Lake from industrial geothermal development and fracking. A bake sale and raffle will be held to help raise funds for all of these activities and more.

This traditional event is one you won’t want to miss – please join us!
